Experience: Spoon carving with Mark Reddy
For this year’s edition of London Craft Week, Hole & Corner has partnered with dunhill to create The Home of Craftsmanship – a townhouse filled with craft, skill and a series of curated events at Bourdon House in Mayfair. One of the experiences taking place is a unique opportunity to carve a spoon with the brilliant Mark Reddy…
Skilfully working with wood that is cut and foraged locally to his Somerset home, Reddy utilises the innate character inherent in this material and works only with simple traditional tools: the hand axe, the maul, the froe and the crook knife. For The Home of Craftsmanship he will be hosting a workshop to share his knowledge and teach the meditative skill of woodcarving in two exclusive. The visitors will have an opportunity to work directly with Reddy and then leave with their freshly carved spoon.
Booking is essential for the workshop but Bourdon House will be open to all from Thursday 10 May to Saturday 12 May, where Hole & Corner will present a series of live demonstrations, installations, workshops and discussions. Each room within the home will be transformed, offering visitors the opportunity to witness and experience extraordinary artistry, skill and techniques under the tutelage of some of the UK’s most respected makers in their fields.
