The Hestia tablemat is named after the ancient Greek goddess Hestia (hɛstiə; Greek: Eστία) – a virgin goddess of the hearth, fireside, architecture and the right ordering of domesticity; the family, the home.
It is inspired by typical traditional hand-crocheted tablemats/chemin de table from the islands of the Aegean Sea. It combines Cycladic minimalism with the purity of the British landscape, having an ‘earthy’ organic feeling. In every step of the production, the ‘Zero Waste’ principle has been followed, aiming to decrease to a minimum yarn waste and unnecessary cuts and carbon footprint. The environmental impact is considered at all the stages of the design, the making process and also at the packaging of this item: handmade with love and sustainability from yarn to cloth to the final piece.
Details: Hand-woven table mat with natural un-dyed pure new British wool in natural shades of white and grey, natural un-dyed linen with crochet Aegean-blue edges and textured ‘distorted’ twill.
