I See the Sun, Observing the Waves Below by Juli Bolanos-Durman

The primary theme within Juli Bolanos-Durman’s creative process is the exploration of preciousness – not only the value of the materials themselves but also the journey of transformation they represent – and how intuitive play jumpstarts the creation of new ideas within the studio practice. She creates raw pieces that are put together sensibly through the joyfulness of play, exploring found materials to create new meaning and inviting the viewer to become part of the journey. By giving a second chance to the discarded glass, these two elements have the chance to collaborate, sharing this particular moment in time and create something new. I See the Sun, Observing the Waves Below references the time of day when the sun is at its highest, looking down and is enticed by the soothing movement of the waves.
